Week 1 | 52 Week Self Portrait Project | Documenting Pregnancy with Baby Floyd
Check out my weird, hairy, super bloated looking, maternity belly button ring having, 18 weeks and 5 days pregnant belly.
They don't tell you all of the things about pregnancy. Probably because there are so many things to tell and it's different for each woman.
I mean, I knew I'd have some cravings, some sleepiness, have crazy ass mood swings, may get sick, and my body would change.
But I did NOT know about the *other* things.
Like:
•The first signs of pregnancy can feel like you're about to start your period I thought I was about to start for probably 5 days before I finally called my sister and my best friend and was like what is happening to me? Am I pregnant? Turns out the first signs of pregnancy can be, like, a million different things.
•How hairy I would get. Eh.ver.y.where!
•My achy ass joints. Cause there's a hormone released during pregnancy that relaxes all of your joints. Surprise, had to buy a new mattress!
•How weird I would be about food. I thought I would just have cravings on top of normal food life-but instead I hate a bunch of food, have cravings, and other food is ‘meh’ but I'll eat it.
•The seriously uncomfortable constipation.
•How often I'd be peeing daily before the baby was big. I thought that was only for the third trimester.
•That, when flexing, the center of my abs would protrude about an inch further than the rest of my abdomen when my abs separated. That was super freaky when I saw it for the first time!
And probably more weird things to come for the next many months.
Which is one of the reasons I've chosen to do a 52 week self portrait project to document and share the next year of my struggles, frustrations, weird stuff that happens to my body, and so on with all of you and with myself. So that we can all, hopefully, feel a little more normal, heal some, and laugh about it all.
Cause growing a human is a heck of a lot for a body to go through!
