Lady Gaga Owns Her 'Imperfect' Body - Receives Criticism | Lady Gaga Superbowl 51 Halftime Performance

If you missed the superbowl last night, I am certain you haven’t missed all the talk about Lady Gaga’s performance (and hopefully you didn’t miss the talk of the insane, wonderful, and historic game!).

Plenty have discussed how her performance was a-political or subtly political. People have discussed love over her talent and others have expressed how the show was horrible and a let down.

Personally, I think the woman is insanely talented and kicked all the ass during Sunday nights performance. It was so badass and filled with love!

But one thing that few are talking about is her owning her body and it’s pooch, unapologetically!

When she popped back on stage after ripping off the top half of her leotard, my face lit up and I turned to my sister and said “Look at her rocking that pooch, hell yeah!” My sister high fived me and said ‘Yay for her owning her body. Go women! We have pooches and we aren’t ashamed!’
We were just so dang proud! AND jealous of those amazing abs!
I just sat there grinning ear to ear after seeing a woman, in the entertainment-world where everyone likes to tear you down if you are anything less than perfect, not just embrace her body, but show her actual skin not being super tight and ‘perfect’!

I know that if I had been her I probably would have done the same thing, but with complete terror in my veins knowing what people would say. My pooch would also be about twice that size. I like it straight on, but I still struggle to love it from the side or if I’m bent over. So for her to rock it while singing, dancing, and being carried, bent over, was just SO EMPOWERING!!!

She really sent a clear message about how we should rock our bodies as they are, even if people are mean and even if we are scared. Because no one can tell you how to feel! Only you can tell yourself how to feel and we should be telling ourselves to love us.

So, from women (and men) everywhere, thank you Lady Gaga! Thank you for showing us a woman who is likely to be devoured, being vulnerable and honest! You’re a badass!
