The Contagious Love of Cherish and Her Fight to Love Her Body! | Shreveport Boudoir
So, y’all need to meet Cherish. One of the sweetest souls I have ever met in.my.life!!! She seriously has one of the most vibrant personalities on earth and her energy adds so much beauty to any room she enters! I could gush over her loving and beautiful heart all day! (No, I really could!). Getting to know her was such an incredible blessing!
So, let’s back up a little and dig into Cherish’s beautiful story! Cherish emailed me to be a model for my series I was doing on women who were learning to love themselves (which, wasn’t so much a series as it was an intro to EXACTLY what I want to help women do! Hint hint: I want you all to LOVE YOURSELVES!!!!). Her email was so so cheery which was exciting! But, it told of her struggles with an eating disorder. It also told of her extreme desire to love her body and how she was excited to do this session for that reason!
Cherish only touched on the topic in her email but when we sat down to chat while she was having hair and makeup done and all throughout the session and even after at her ordering session we talked about her struggle to love her body and her strong desire to show other women how to love their bodies as they are!
When we talked about my desire to love women and help them see their beauty and worth in more than just their body she lit up! She was so excited and talked about all the women she fell in love with in rehab. All these women looked completely different and she loved them for who they were. She told me she didn't care or even notice their appearance and how true that was for all of those she loves.
That was a beautiful thing to hear. I mean, I know that is how we operate. Humans do not pick pretty friends who are completely awful humans. No one wants to marry a gorgeous person who is a complete jerk! No, that is silly! And, even MORE important to remember is that when you truly love someone you don’t see their bodies, you see their SOULS! And I think that is just the most important thing on earth…
This is beyond true for those I love. I don’t even notice what they look like often. Occasionally I stop and realize what they really look like. But, love doesn’t see what people call “imperfect”.
Cherish has fought for herself after she treated her body poorly. She has been and will continue to fight for it!
I think it is always a fight to love ourselves. We have to talk about ourselves kindly and watch our thoughts too. Words and thoughts affect us more than we think! I fight to love myself every day. Most days I win. Some days I don’t and the next day I wake up determined to have a better day!
Cherish chose to stay unretouched in her portraits.
