Four Year Anniversary, Leaky Plumbing, & a Broken Fridge
Thursday June 2nd, 2016 was Trey’s and mine 4 yr anniversary. We spent it stressed out and road tripping. The day started simply, I woke up and got all the last minute things together after spending the night before doing the things detailed in my last blog post. The morning was spent frantically stressing to get everything ready to drive to Colorado. And then Trey got home from his day teaching summer school. We were putting ice in the ice chest and realized something awful. Our freezer wasn’t freezing. The ice was half water.
On our 4 yr anniversary, our freezer died.
The irony of this is that, apparently, the modern day gift for a 4 yr anniversary is appliances. Or, maybe that isn’t ironic. I’m not sure.
My mother, little sister, and her boyfriend moved everything out of the freezer (but not before I fussed at my Mom in my stressed state because I thought she had a key to my house and she didn't. And then I cried because I fussed at my Mom and hung up out of anger. I called later and apologized because I felt awful.) as we drove through what was basically absolute hell; also known as driving through Dallas, in rush hour traffic, with the worst drivers, in the pouring rain. Words were had between both of us. As well as crying on my part.
You see, Trey is an aggressive ‘get it done’ driver and I am a cautious ‘get it done’ driver. Which makes him great in Dallas.
I also have anxiety about driving in the rain and just generally driving at all because I am 25 and have been in about seven wrecks and not one was my fault. Not.one. And a few have been pretty terrifying. So, as you can imagine it was awful. Trey is an amazing driver too, but anxiety isn’t rational…
Anywho, the weekend was lovely. My sister-in-law married an amazing man and I seriously could.not be happier for them!
Then, we get home and a leak in our bathroom that we forgot about rears it’s ugly head. We had a bucket under the sink catching water until we could fix it, and the bucket had been overflowing all weekend. Fun. So, now our particle board sink holder thingy is going to fall apart any day now and we have to buy a new fridge.
So, happy 4 yr anniversary Trey! I love you and all our adventures together! Haha!
Update:
Crisis averted. We got a 20-30yr old fridge for free and used that. And then a part came in for the fridge. My husband used his handiness and the internet to figure out what might be broken and was right! So, now we have two fridges! One for food, one as a kegerator for brewing beer!
The plumbing, yeah. We fixed the original problem and created two more. Really, the previous homeowners created one of them.
The one the previous homeowners created was shoddy plumbing work. Trey bumped something and the hot water pipe connection started leaking…*eyeroll/attitude face* *sigh*
The other issue is when we removed our fridge to put in the one we got for free, Trey cut the water line to the ice maker. Just not thinking. So, now when we can’t reconnect it without some work. And the ice maker line is connected to the cold water in the bathroom. So, since it is not currently hooked up it just spews water if we turn on the cold water for the sink.
We just don’t use the bathroom sink until we can get to it. *head-wall*
