Crystal's Downtown Shreveport Outdoor Boudoir Session
So, there’s this man that hangs out in his thong, only, around Broadmoor on Youree Drive. Through learning about him, I learned that being in public in nothing but your undies is, apparently, perfectly legal.
And while I have no plans to walk around in a thong, I did have light bulbs going off in my head!
“If he can legally walk around, with all the things tightly ‘concealed’ in a thong, then my clients can do classy boudoir in public!”
Hello new opportunities!
So when I met with Crystal for her consultation I knew she’d be the perfect client to be my first outdoor boudoir session! She was talking about embracing her body as it is, wanting to share her photos with the world to empower other women, and she was open to anything for her session. So, I just straight up asked if she’d be willing to try a boudoir session in downtown Shreveport!
Immediately, she said yes. With joy!
I did follow that question up with “We won’t literally have you walking down the middle of Texas street in a bra and panties. It’ll be classy, tasteful, and sexy. Trust me.”
Y’all. It was cold for her session! I was all bundled in my layers, coat, and gloves. But she just had a coat and boots for between shots, and the teddy she was wearing.
As you can see above, we had some sweet kitties crashing our photoshoot. They were behind Chicago, by the Texas Street Bridge in downtown Shreveport. They were just so dang precious! I wanted to take the grey one home with me! And the two black ones kept hugging each other. Each time they walked passed each other they would wrap tails at the end. It was precious!
Anywho, after about an hour, it warmed up, but I don’t know how she didn’t freeze!
Crystal suffered for art, like a G! Probably because Crystal is an artist herself, as a freelance makeup artist. She did her own makeup for this session and is it not amazing? Cause she’s amazing!
During Crystal’s session we got to talk about why she was doing her session and what a beautiful story. I’ll let her tell it.
“I wanted to show you don't have to be a size 0 to do boudoir all women are beautiful any age, sex, or race.I have always struggled with insecurities. For years I was destroying myself with eating disorders. I was a size four and couldn't believe I was so big...Man, now at a 14 I am just learning how to love myself more and not caring what others think so much. We as a society have let people dictate what is beautiful and sexy. This is my advice for them..."It's a new dawn it’s a new day...and I'm feeling good."”
I’m so glad I was able to photograph her and help tell her story. She’s empowered me to be more loving and that nothing is ever permanent. Nothing. When you’re in a dark hole, it feels like you won’t ever get out. But you can and you will.
Everything my not be ‘ok’, but it won’t be like that forever!
In Crystals case, she’s learning to love her body and has a thriving freelance makeup business! So awesome!
Crystal had this to say as words of encouragement for clients:
“Love yourself ,be your own kind of sexy and own it.”
Honestly, “be your own kind of sexy…” BRILLIANT!! I’ve never quite thought of it that way!
We’re all so different, and that’s beautiful and wonderful. So why not be sexy in our own way?
Not everyone’s sexy is the standard set by society. And that’s awesome!
